From April 23, the Xbox app will be available on selected LG smart TVs, enabling owners to stream games without a console via the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
The Xbox app will be accessible via the new LG Gaming Portal on 2025 LG TVs, or through a firmware upgrade for OLED TVs made in 2022 or later, as well as LG smart TVs and smart monitors with the latest webOS operating system.
As with streaming via other devices, users will need a Bluetooth-enabled controller, ideally an Xbox wireless controller, but any Bluetooth-enabled controller will work.
This extends Microsoft’s game-streaming reach to LG TVs, with Samsung smart TVs (from 2020) and Amazon Fire TV Sticks already supporting the feature.
Microsoft has also announced its intentions to produce a dedicated Xbox Cloud Gaming dongle, which would enable USB-compatible screens to stream games, but no product is yet available.
