Book Below is hosting the Fantasy & Sci-Fi Worlds event on August 15–16, 2026. For 48 hours, indie authors are making their books totally free. If you love fantasy or sci-fi, this is the event for you!
How these events actually work
Here’s how you can get your hands on free Kindle ebooks!
If you’re not sure what Stuff Your Kindle is, it’s a community-driven promotion designed to help independent authors build new audiences while letting readers try out unfamiliar writers without risking any cash. It’s not officially run by Amazon.
Indie authors interested in getting involved can sign up for future events through the Book Below website, where details and submission forms are provided ahead of each promotion.
Every book is totally free—no strings, no trials, no time limits. Grab as many as you want, and they’re yours to keep.

- 16GB To take part, head over to the event directory page on Book Below when it goes live on August 15. You can find the directory by visiting the Book Below homepage and clicking on the “Stuff Your Kindle Day” banner or the link labeled “Event Directory” at the top of the site. This will take you directly to the list of all free books available during the event. Scroll through the list, check out covers and blurbs, and see what grabs you! Once you find something you like (and there really is something for everyone, I’m sure), you can click the store link for any book that catches your eye, which takes you directly to its Amazon listing. “Purchase” the book while it’s priced at zero dollars, and it will drop straight into your personal cloud library. Neat! Because these promotions only last for a couple of days, it’s best to add this to your calendar so you don’t miss out. Best of all, you don’t need a physical Kindle device to join in; anyone with the free Kindle app on a smartphone, tablet, or computer can participate. Readers outside the US can also take part in Stuff Your Kindle Day. As long as the selected e-book is available in your local Amazon store, you can claim it for free during the event window. Availability may vary by region depending on publisher settings, so it is a good idea to double-check your store’s access. Before August 15, clear some space and check your wishlist. This is the easiest way to find a sci-fi and fantasy hidden gem to add to your Kindle library, or, if you’re anything like me, your ever-growing backlog of books you need to get through.
