Even if all the 4K UHD Blu-ray players on the market today were perfect, the pickings are still slim. The narrow market for 4K UHD Blu-ray players, paired with the inconsistency of budget and midrange players, means that you’ll need to spend a fortune to get a trusted and reliable performer. Do I hope and pray that the Panasonic UB-450 comes back in stock? Or wait for an unlikely new contender to enter the field? I can’t say for sure which path is best, and that’s why this is the worst possible time for the 4K UHD Blu-ray format to make a comeback.
