ChatGPT Is Taking On Google Shopping—but With One Key Difference

Summary
ChatGPT has revealed plans to add a shopping feature to its search facility, enabling users to search for products and purchase them directly, with initial categories including fashion, beauty, home goods and electronics.
Unlike Google Shopping, ChatGPT’s search results will not be paid placements or sponsored, but organic results, with recommendations being more conversational and personalised than keyword-focused.
The new feature will integrate with the chatbot’s improved memory option, allowing it to make better product recommendations to users.
Over one billion web searches were made on ChatGPT last week, which continues to roll out new features for its growing user base.
Another shopping-related feature, Operator, is available to subscribers of the $200 monthly Pro tier, in addition to the free version, ChatGPT Deep Research, which is limited to five queries per month.
Further smaller features will also arrive for ChatGPT Search, including the display of trending searches and WhatsApp integration.
