Waabi says its virtual robotrucks are realistic enough to prove the real ones are safe

Summary
Canadian autonomous vehicle (AV) developer, Waabi, can now prove the safety of its driverless trucks without having to put them through their paces on real roads, thanks to its virtual simulation, Waabi World.
CEO and founder, Raquel Urtasun, said the simulation could recreate a range of weather and lighting conditions and even simulate a truck’s onboard computer.
Waabi can then make a digital twin of the real world and measure how its virtual performance compares with reality.
The vehicle manufacturer now plans to use the simulation to show regulators it’s ready to remove human operators from its trucks.
Industry observers commented that while the technology was an interesting development, they would like to see more detail about how it works.
