Increasing numbers of architects are employing artificial intelligence in their designs to expand the limits of their creativity, according to an article in Technology Review.
While the industry has previously seen the use of computers as little more than a replacement for paper and drafting tools, many architects now see AI as a partner in the creative process that can enhance their existing media and offer new forms of expression.
Early AI design software is mostly used for simple tasks such as generating 4D BIM and digital twins, or for drafting floor plans based on basic instructions.
However, advanced AI, including immersive AI, can create complex new environments based on mere hints from human designers, creating new opportunities for architects to push the boundaries of their craft.
