Recent reports suggest that humanoid robots are not as useful in industry and warehouses as previously believed, with many lacking common sense.
Daniela Rus, one of the world’s top experts on AI-powered robots, said humanoids “are mostly not intelligent” and that “these robots lack common sense”.
Various reports over the past year have suggested that AI is helping to expedite training of robots, and that humanoids will soon be widely used.
Figures suggest that there could be a billion humanoids at work by 2050, however, many in the industry are sceptical about this.
Humanoids have limited powers of thought, and are complex and expensive to manufacture, and increasingly heavy robots need more power and a bigger battery.
While recent reports indicate that humanoid robots may not be as useful in industry and warehouses as first believed, there are numerous other areas in which they could be of immense use.
