Slate, an electric truck manufacturer, has gone against the usual protocol of launching expensive, luxury models, instead announcing a $20,000 truck with no stereo, paint, or options.
The company’s first vehicle, the Slate Truck, aims to capitalise on the DIY-ing trend, focusing on customisability, with the option to buy a shell and retrofit later.
Manufacturing processes include low-cost, efficient assembling of the trucks at factories, and the truck is expected to ship next year.
The episode also covers Tim Stevens’ take on the vehicle, Casey Johnston’s journey limiting screen time and finding a new approach to using her phone, and the answer to a listener’s question about matching the MacBook Air.
