GPD Win Max 2 review: a surprisingly competent tiny laptop that doubles as a gaming handheld
1 min read
Summary
The GPD Win Max 2 is the latest in a long line of pocketable PCs aimed at people who want more than a regular laptop but less than a full-sized gaming PC, and who want to play games as well as do some work while out and about.
It’s about the size of a large smartphone, but contains a full keyboard, a 10-inch touchscreen, and powerful components including a Ryzen 7 processor, up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage, and it even has modular expansion bays for adding extra SSD storage or an optical modem.
It also has some of the common problems of small devices, though, including a terrible webcam, a tiny and awkward touchpad, and less than optimal battery life, and its chunky body can be awkward to hold for long periods while gaming.
It is at least technically capable of acting as a desktop PC, too, since it has the rare Oculink port which can be used to connect an external GPU, turning it into a high-end gaming PC.
