Summary

  • The GPD Win Max 2 is the latest in a long line of pocketable PCs aimed at people who want more than a regular laptop but less than a full-sized gaming PC, and who want to play games as well as do some work while out and about.
  • It’s about the size of a large smartphone, but contains a full keyboard, a 10-inch touchscreen, and powerful components including a Ryzen 7 processor, up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage, and it even has modular expansion bays for adding extra SSD storage or an optical modem.
  • It also has some of the common problems of small devices, though, including a terrible webcam, a tiny and awkward touchpad, and less than optimal battery life, and its chunky body can be awkward to hold for long periods while gaming.
  • It is at least technically capable of acting as a desktop PC, too, since it has the rare Oculink port which can be used to connect an external GPU, turning it into a high-end gaming PC.
