WiZ’s new TV light sync box undercuts Philips Hue’s pricing by half

Budget smart lighting brand WiZ has unveiled an HDMI sync box, which synchronises its range of Wi-Fi-enabled LED lights with content playing on a TV set.
Two models will be available from next month, priced from $89.99, which include a reverse light strip for screens between 55 to 65 inches, or 75 to 85 inches.
Whilst sister brand Philips Hue offers a similar HDMI Play Box, it starts at $249.99 and requires the purchase of light strips separately.
WiZ’s option offers a cheaper alternative, but users will need to manually switch between devices should they have multiple devices connected to their TV.
The Sync Box supports HDMI 2.0 and can handle video formats up to 4K at 60Hz, with HDR10 Plus and Dolby Vision.
It also has a built-in microphone, enabling lights to change in sync with music and films, and can be controlled using the WiZ app or smart home devices that support Google or Alexa interfaces.
