Summary
Music streaming service Spotify has submitted an updated iOS app that offers US users more payment options outside of Apple’s systems, as allowed by a ruling in the Epic Games v Apple case on Wednesday.
The ruling stipulates that Apple is not allowed to charge fees for transactions made through apps using systems other than Apple’s, or force developers to use Apple’s payment system.
The ruling also requires Apple to allow developers to inform their customers of other purchasing options.
Spotify has said that if Apple approves the app, it will be able to provide US users with a better range of subscription options and pricing plans.
Other app developers, such as Patreon, are expected to follow suit.
