Apple approves Spotify app update with external payments

Spotify’s iPhone app has been updated (version 9.0.40) and the new version allows US users to pay for plans on an external site, without Apple’s restrictions, as the tech giant has been forced to change its rules on external payments.
Spotify has been among the loudest critics of Apple’s payment policies, which charged developers a 30% fee on in-app purchases, while its rival, Apple Music, is able to avoid this as it is not available on the App Store.
Spotify’s spokesperson, Jeanne Moran, said the approval of the updated app was a “significant milestone for developers and entrepreneurs”.
However, the streaming giant is still at loggerheads with Google over its app store for Android devices.
