Summary
Audio company Masimo has agreed to sell its consumer audio assets to Samsung-owned Harman International for $350m.
The deal is set to be completed by the end of 2025, subject to regulatory approval, and will see Harman acquire audio brands Bowers & Wilkins, Denon and Polk Audio.
These brands will join the existing Harman lineup, which already includes JBL, Harman Kardon, Arcam, AKG, Mark Levinson and Revel following Samsung’s $8bn acquisition of Harman in 2016.
Samsung has said the latest move will help it to cement its position as leader in the consumer audio market.
It also plans to use the audio technology from the acquired brands in its line-up of smartphones, wireless earphones, headphones, TVs and soundbars, whilst also expanding its car audio business with the new brands.
