Spotify’s iPhone app could soon sell audiobooks with links, too

Summary
Music streaming service Spotify is planning to add audiobook purchase options for US-based iOS users, triggering a potential clash with Apple’s App Store policies, as it also plans to launch top-up credits for audiobooks.
Spotify submitted the update to its iOS app to Apple for approval, in response to last week’s ruling in the Epic Games v Apple legal battle that found that the tech giant was in “willful violation” of a previous injunction.
Spotify had previously removed the option to purchase audiobooks via its iOS app following a dispute with Apple over the app store operator’s 30% fee.
The new feature would allow the company to offer basic pricing information on audiobooks and easy access to purchase digital audiobooks through iPhone.
Other apps, including Amazon’s Kindle and Patreon, have also introduced similar external links to comply with the ruling.
