The upgraded VMU Pro turns the Dreamcast’s memory card into a handheld emulator

Summary
Sega’s Dreamcast VMU (Virtual Memory Unit) allowed users to play standalone games and acted as a memory card to save games on the popular Dreamcast console that debuted in 1999, and 8BitMod is releasing a modern version called the VMU Pro with a colour screen.
Features include the ability to act as a handheld games emulator for retro titles such as those on the Nintendo Entertainment System, in addition to the ability to store save game data and mark it for backup to a microSD card, and play MP3 files.
The original VMU was notorious for using CR2032 coin cell batteries, so the Pro version will have a rechargeable battery and other upgrades such as Wi-Fi.
While the Anbernic RG Nano has superior emulation abilities for retro consoles, the VMU Pro retains the ability to fit the original Dreamcast controller, which will please fans of the console.
Pricing has not yet been released, with pre-orders opening on 15 May, but an earlier version with a monochromatic screen launched for $114.
