Summary
Apple TV+‘s TV show, Murderbot, is told from the point of view of a lethal AI security bot who is experiencing free will and streaming television for the first time.
Its existential crisis is very relatable as it deals with the ramifications of its new found freedom and ponds whether an acid bath is preferable to making a speech to fellow crew members.
Apple’s sci-fi comedy, adapted from Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries, also features the bot narrating its story with a stilted delivery which adds to its overall Authenticity.
It fills a gap in Apple’s sci-fi offerings which are otherwise pretty serious and lacks laughs.
Murderbot serves as a relatable and humorous take on important issues concerning AI and free will.
The show also explores the notion of sentient machines being viewed as slave labour by some in the galaxy.
