Summary
After announcing earlier in the year that it was going to stop supporting Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 after the October 14 end of support, Microsoft has performed a u-turn.
The company will provide security updates for Office apps on Windows 10 for an additional three years to help maintain security as users transition to Windows 11.
“To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11,” was the message from Microsoft in January.
However, the new message is that Microsoft 365 apps will “continue to function as before”, but it is recommended that users upgrade to Windows 11 “to avoid performance and reliability issues over time.”
Microsoft wants to encourage the adoption of Windows 11, which has lagged behind Windows 10.
