Sony has released its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, featuring several upgrades on its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI.
It has a familiar design and tech derived from across Sony’s other hardware ranges, such as Alpha cameras, Bravia TVs and Walkman audio.
The smartphone has a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera with a sensor twice the size of previous models, whilst the main and telephoto lenses remain unchanged.
Audio functionality has been enhanced with the addition of high-end components from Sony’s modern line of Walkman audio players, along with AI-based DSEE Ultimate upscaling, Hi-Res, LDAC and Dolby Atmos formats.
The 6.5-inch OLED display incorporates adaptive brightness functionality from the Bravia range.
Core specs include the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, expandable to 2TB, along with an IP65 / 68 rating, wireless charging and a 5,000mAh battery.
The Xperia 1 VII is available in the UK and Europe, with prices starting at £1,399 / €1,499 ($1,700).
