Summary
Google is adding ultra wideband (UWB) functionality to its Find My Device location tracking network later this month, alongside a rebrand to Find Hub.
The addition of UWB brings more accurate tracking to compatible phones and trackers, and allows for direction as well as distance to be given to help locate a missing tag.
The change also reflects the recent addition of a “People” tab to the app, allowing users to track the location of people who have agreed to share their location.
Satellite connectivity is also on the way “later this year”, building upon the Pixel 9’s existing Satellite SOS mode, and integration with airline staff to share the location of trackers is coming early next year.
