Summary

  • According to insider and renowned Apple ‘prognosticator’ Mark Gurman, the tech giant is testing a feature for its mixed reality headset that will allow users to scroll through apps using only eye movement, even including the ability to scroll through web pages.
  • The feature is said to work on all Apple’s built-in apps and the company is considering broadening it out to include developer third party apps too.
  • It is suggested that it could function by initiating a scroll once the user gazes at the side of a page for a set period, with further scrolling then activated by looking above or below the initial point of focus.
  • This is not the first time Apple has incorporated eye tracking into its products, famously launching the EyePad – a iPad with eye tracking controls – in 2022 to favourable reviews.
