Following Google’s I/O developer conference, Google has revealed a range of changes coming to its Android Auto infotainment system, including a revamp of its Spotify app, a new light mode and the ability to use web browsers and video apps.
The new Spotify feature, Spotify Jam, will allow individuals to share control of the audio source from their devices, by tapping a “Jam” icon and scanning a QR code to add songs to a playlist.
Google has also announced that its Quick Share feature will be incorporated in cars with Google built-in, while support for weather apps is being extended beyond beta testing.
The new features will be available in the “coming months”, with Google noting that they will only work when a car is not in motion.
Browser and video apps are already available in beta for cars with Google built-in, while Youtube and Zoom are currently available for Android Auto for cars with Google built-in.
