Social media giant Meta has announced plans for a special LlamaCon conference to showcase its open-source AI developments and updates to developers.
The event, named after Meta’s open-source AI model Llama, will be held on 29th April 2025 ahead of the main Meta Connect conference in September.
Meta has invested billions in AI research and development and is said to be planning the launch of a second generation of its AI-powered Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, with a smaller heads-up display.
Recent earnings reports from glassmaker EssilorLuxottica confirmed that Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses had sold more than 2 million units since their launch in October 2023, with the 10 million capacity subscription model operating at around 20% capacity.
More details about LlamaCon and underlying AI developments are expected in the coming weeks.
