Taboola’s clickbaity chumbox is evolving into an AI chatbot
1 min read
Summary
Taboola has launched an AI chatbot called Deeperdive in a beta launch for US publishers USA Today and The Independent.
The tool answers readers’ questions using information sourced from trusted journalists.
It will also list related articles followed by a sponsored link, with the advertorial unit allowing publishers to drop contextually relevant ads straight into the AI-generated results page.
Just 1% of USA Today’s audience will see Deeperdive whilst it is assessed for quality.
USA Today’s publisher, Gannett, has previously used AI for sports coverage and AI-generated articles for its Reviewed site, albeit with limited success.
