Instagram is introducing a range of new features to its direct messaging (DM) feature, including the option to schedule messages for a later date, pin key messages to the top of a chat and invite users to join a group chat via a QR code.
The message translation feature supports 99 languages, while music-sharing enables users to natively share music within the app and listen simultaneously.
These features build on previous updates to make DMs more engaging, including the option to reply to specific messages, see everyone in the chat with you at the same time and react with emojis.
It is unclear whether these features will be extended to broadcast channels, which offer one-way messaging for creators.
