Volvo’s upcoming ES90 midsize luxury sedan is claimed to be the company’s most powerful EV to date in terms of its core computing capacity.
To be built around a dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin supercomputer, the ES90 will be the first Volvo vehicle to incorporate Nvidia’s system-on-a-chip, enabling it to perform 508 trillion operations per second.
Volvo said the new vehicle will be able to run a range of AI-based safety features and efficient battery management systems.
The Swedish automaker also noted the ES90 will be built on the company’s SPA2 vehicle architecture and its newSuperset tech stack, a modular engineering platform aimed at boosting safety and enabling in-field software updates.
Volvo intends for the ES90 to be one of the most technically advanced cars on the market and continually upgradeable via over-the-air software updates.
