Intel and AMD silicon designed specifically for handheld PCs has so far failed to deliver the performance that users want, but Lenovo is hoping to fare better with a chip it designed in partnership with AMD, which will power an upcoming device called the Legion Go S, according to leaked benchmarks and images of the device recently shared by Twitter user @ Rosesaliisa.
Lenovo announced the handheld gaming PC in October 2022, saying it will have the “first exclusive AMD Ryzen GPU in a handheld,” along with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1 TB of NVMe SSD storage, and ship with either Windows 11 or SteamOS.
The device will come in two versions: one with the Ryzen 7 7736M chip and another with the Ryzen 5 7456M, and is expected to launch in May with a SteamOS version coming in the second half of the year.
