Summary

  • Samsung’s upcoming Fold 7 is rumoured to be even thinner than Oppo’s recently released Find N5, which was marketed as the world’s thinnest foldable phone.
  • The Find N5 is 4.2mm thick and the Magic V3, previously the record holder, is 4.4mm thick, while the Fold 7 is rumoured to be just 4.5mm thick.
  • This would make the Fold 7 the thinnest foldable phone on the US market, with its Z Fold 6 predecessor 5.6mm thick, and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold 5.1mm thick.
  • It is thought that the Fold 7’s larger 8.2-inch inner screen, compared to the 7.6-inch inner screen on the Fold 6, has enabled Samsung to fit a 4,400mAH battery into a thinner design.
  • The Fold 7 is expected to be launched in July 2025 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but Samsung may delay the launch of its first tri-fold phone.
