Apple is fixing a voice dictation bug that substitutes ‘Trump’ for ‘racist’

Summary
When Apple’s iPhone dictation feature is asked to turn the word “racist” into text, it sometimes displays the word “Trump” on the screen, according to a TikTok video that went viral.
The company has acknowledged the bug, with an unnamed spokesperson saying: “We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible”.
Apple said the issue relates to the phonetic overlap between the two words, but former Siri team staff member John Burkey said the bug “smells like a serious prank″ and could have been carried out on purpose by someone at Apple.
The appearance of the name “Trump” instead of “racist” comes just after Apple announced plans to invest $500bn in the US over the next four years to blunt the impact of President Trump’s tariffs on goods from China.
