Roblox is developing a new x86 version of its game which will see a significant performance boost when played on x86 Chromebooks, with Google claiming that frame rates will increase by up to 99% on some devices, and load times will reduce by over 50% on others.
The blog post declaring the news also reveals that Chromebook players will be able to get a special in-game item and a Roblox-themed Shorts effect for YouTube creators.
The performance boost is also expected to translate into “smoother gameplay and an overall better Roblox experience”.
This move can been seen as part of a concerted effort to raise the profile of Roblox on Chromebooks ahead of the launch of Roblox Sense, a new immersive space-themed experience, which is set to launch on Galaxy Chromebook later this year.
