Cloud-connected frames will no longer be able to auto-update Google Photos albums from March 31st, as the API change limits the library access that apps have and removes the ability to manage shared albums.
The change is designed to improve user privacy, and apps will only be able to access photos and albums if users manually select them.
Aura is ahead of the change, and will be disabling its Google Photos auto-sync feature on March 17th.
Cozyla has also informed its users of the change.
A Google spokesperson said the company is always looking for ways to improve user privacy, but mentioned it is working on an API designed for digital photo frames.
