Summary
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s rumoured smart display has been delayed due to it relying on the upgraded Siri capabilities that have since been postponed.
It was expected that Apple would release a smart home hub with a display in 2023, similar to offerings from Amazon and Google.
The device was also expected to be the first Apple smart home hub to support Apple Intelligence, and run on tvOS.
Last week, Apple confirmed that its upgraded Siri capabilities would take longer than expected, and wouldn’t be released in the ‘coming year’, suggesting that it may not appear in iOS 18 either.
Amazon is planning to integrate AI into Alexa with Alexa Plus, whilst Google is slowly rolling out its new assistant, Gemini, to some Nest speakers.
