Since this morning, users of social media platform X have been experiencing disruptions and outages preventing content from loading.
The first widespread issue began at around 5:40AM ET, and claims from X suggest a cyberattack is to blame.
This is not the first time X has experienced outages, and competitors in the social media sphere, such as Bluesky, Threads and Mastadon, have remained active, offering X users alternate spaces to utilise while the issues are rectified.
Users globally have experienced the outages, with sporadic reports coming through social media platforms of X being down for several minutes at a time.
X CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that a “large coordinated group or country” is behind the attack, and X is working to rectify the issues.
No new updates were issued yesterday despite Musk’s tweets.
