Microsoft is replacing Remote Desktop with its new Windows app

Summary
Microsoft is to end support for its current Remote Desktop app for Windows on 27 May 2025, coinciding with the planned launching of its new Windows app.
The new app launched in September 2022 and will include multimonitor support, dynamic display resolutions, and easy access to existing cloud PCs and virtual desktops.
The current app available on the Microsoft Store is not to be confused with Microsoft’s longstanding Remote Desktop Connection app that ships with Windows.
This app will remain onwards of May 27th, and Microsoft has stated that it can still be used in conjunction with the Remote Desktop Protocol, which may imply that the protocol will be supported in the new Windows app in future.
