Sonos has abandoned its plan to launch a video streaming device, which was in the final stages of development and had already spent time in beta testing.
The product, known as Pinewood, will not now proceed to market and the team working on it will be reassigned.
Sonos CEO Tom Conrad confirmed the turnaround in the company’s roadmap during an all-hands call and said the firm would not be moving into the video space “for now”.
The decision leaves Sonos without a major product launch scheduled for H2 2025, following the recent release of its Arc Ultra soundbar and Sub 4 units at the end of 2024.
The company is now focusing on restoring the performance and reputation of its software, following a difficult few months for the brand.
