Social network Reddit has introduced a new feature allowing users to permanently dismiss advertisements from their feeds.
The company said in a post that users would see a “hide” option in the form of an eye with a line through it next to any ads appearing in their feeds, giving them the ability to remove the ad for “at least a year”.
If the advertisement reappears, users can hide it again.
The company added that the new feature would be available on its iOS and Android apps, as well as its website, “over the next several weeks”.
Last year, Reddit introduced filters that let users limit the appearance of ads in sensitive categories, such as alcohol, dating, gambling and politics and activism.
