The Electric State can’t hold a charge to save its life

Summary
The Electric State, a sci-fi/fantasy piece based on a graphic novel of the same name, is the latest offering from the Russo brothers, writes Adam Rosenberg.
Set in a dystopian version of the 1990s where robots and humans have been at war, the film follows a teen orphan (Millie Bobby Brown) as she is drawn into a risky adventure after discovering one of these robots left behind in her home.
The robot, resembling a cartoon character, prompts Brown’s character to track down her younger brother, who she thought had died in a car crash.
The film features an ensemble cast, including Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie, Stanley Tucci, and Giancarlo Esposito, but the performances overall are poor and the script is dull.
Despite having a lengthy running time of over two hours, the story feels rushed and the set pieces lack creativity, leaving the viewer wondering why so many well-known actors agreed to take part, letting down a fascinating concept.
