Summary
Following reports of Teslas catching fire in Kansas City and Las Vegas this week, CEO Elon Musk has called the incidents “terrorism”.
Police in Las Vegas said a suspect dressed in all-black attire threw Molotov cocktails at several vehicles and fired three bullets in a Tesla collision centre, which has now been closed for repairs.
The attacker also spray-painted the word “resist” on the facility’s doors, and the incident is now being investigated by the FBI’s joint terrorism task force.
It is not yet known if the incidents are linked.
The Kansas City fire department was also unable to prevent a Tesla Cybertruck from burning to the ground while parked in a Tesla parking lot.
