Summary
Nvidia has released its open-source pretrained foundation model, Isaac GROAT N1, to help robot makers create more human-like robots more quickly and easily.
It can be customised to perform specific tasks and is currently being used by several companies, including Boston Dynamics and Agility Robotics.
The dual-system architecture of the model reflects human cognition, with one system responsible for fast, intuitive actions and the other for slower, more reasoned thinking.
Developers can post-train the model using human-demonstration or simulation data to tailor its behaviour.
“The age of generalist robotics is here,” said Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang.
The model is available for download via Hugging Face and GitHub.
