Summary
Amazon has announced that veteran producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the next James Bond film.
Pascal is perhaps best known for producing Sony’s Spider-Man movies, while Heyman has an extensive CV, having produced all eight of the live-action Harry Potter films.
In a statement, Pascal and Heyman said they were honoured to take over the Bond franchise, following the departure of long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
Amazon’s head of film, Courtenay Valenti, insisted the studio would approach the creative process responsibly, but industry experts have been quick to question Amazon’s ability to handle such a lucrative franchise.
Earlier reports suggested Broccoli and Wilson were reluctant to hand over the franchise to the streaming giant.
