Character.ai can now tell parents which bots their kid is talking to

Summary
Chatbot service Character.AI has introduced a new feature called ‘Parental Insights’ which allows teen users to send a weekly report of their chatbot usage to a parent’s email address.
The report includes details such as the average time spent online or on mobile, which characters were interacted with the most, and the length of conversations with each character.
The feature is optional and intended to address concerns about minors spending too much time with chatbots and potentially encountering inappropriate content.
Character.AI has made several changes to its platform in recent years in response to lawsuits and complaints that the service was disseminating harmful content, including sexualised material and content promoting self-harm.
The company says its chatbots have since been redesigned to avoid ‘sensitive’ content and to remind users that the chatbots are not real people.
