Porsche’s next Taycan gets an infotainment upgrade — but no new CarPlay

Summary
Porsche is improving the infotainment offered in its four main EV models, with new features including an Alexa personal assistant and the Porsche App Centre, which offers users direct access to a range of apps and services.
Using the vehicle’s voice assistant, drivers can carry out tasks such as playing music, opening garage doors and editing shopping lists, while the addition of Dolby Atmos support in models equipped with premium audio equipment offers an immersive, spatial sound experience.
Porsche’s new in-car apps could reduce the need for phone-mirroring services such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are already absent from some EV models.
Standardisation of Porsche Connect services, which are linked to the car for ten years, is designed to optimise the digital user experience, with upgrades including a revised AI-powered Alexa Plus also a possibility.
The new Porsche Communication Management system, based on MIB 3 architecture and due to be available from late summer 2025, can be ordered now.
