Summary
WhatsApp is now an option for iPhone users to use for their calls and text messages as it has been added as an option in iPhone default app settings.
This is available for users who have updated WhatsApp to version 25.8.74 on their iPhone.
At the start of this year, Apple confirmed that iPhone users could choose their default messaging and phone apps within the European Union, but it would become available for all iOS users.
To change their default calling and texting app, users have to go to their settings, then to ‘Default Apps’, where they will see a list of apps and can select the relevant messaging and calling options.
The switch will mean that users’ chosen app will automatically open when a phone number is clicked on or when the message button is selected.
