Samsung has just released its latest solid state drive (SSD), the 9100 Pro, with prices for the 1TB version starting at $199.
However, its predecessor, the 990 Pro, is currently half the price of the larger capacity 9100 Pro, with the 4TB model retailing for $280.
The 990 Pro comes close to the theoretical speed limit of PCIe 4, and while the 9100 Pro’s speeds are arguably wasted on games consoles, it would still function adequately in a PS5.
With the continuing ascendance in the size of game installs, an SSD is a solid option for any console or computer supporting PCIe Gen 4 speeds.
