Samsung’s newest vacuum cleaners, the Bespoke Jet AI ($1,099), now come with an LCD display that can notify a user of incoming phone calls or text messages and even allow them to answer via the display.
The appliances are part of the firm’s Bespoke AI line, which also includes washers and dryers that can now also make phone calls and feature automatic detergent dispensers and door openers.
The machines are part of the firm’s “AI Home” portfolio, which includes large LCD touchscreens that can connect to devices and allow users to perform actions such as sending cooking instructions to an oven.
The screens include music, weather and smart home controls and can integrate with other devices, such as allowing a user to view a doorbell feed.
However, the move has prompted speculation about whether the South Korean firm will start pushing advertising to users, something rival Amazon is criticised for doing with its Echo devices.
