Why the watt is the most important spec in battery-powered devices

David Pierce, tech reviewer for The Verge, has called for an end to the use of milliampere hours (mAh) as a measurement for a device’s battery performance.
Instead, he argued that device makers should utilise watts, as it is a measure of power and energy that can give consumers a better understanding of the capacity of a battery or the strength of a processor.
Pierce noted that while most consumers are familiar with megahertz which measure a processor’s speed, this is an ineffective measure of a device’s true capabilities and instead, TDP (thermal design power), measured in watts, is a much better indicator.
Pierce also highlighted that the measurement of watt is a more honest way for consumers to understand exactly how much battery life they have left in their devices.
