Summary
TikTok has announced that its photo-sharing app Notes will be discontinued from 8 May, with all related features removed.
The app, which allowed users to share photos with captions, as well as offering a recommended content feed, was launched in April last year in a limited test with Australia and Canada, but the company has now decided to concentrate on its other app, Lemon8, which offers a similar service but also enables the sharing of videos.
TikTok highlighted that the decision to remove Notes was not taken lightly, and the company is excited to build on the features offered within Notes within Lemon8 as it continues to enhance the TikTok experience.
However, Lemon8 has itself come under recent scrutiny as it was among the apps banned in January this year in the US, which cited data collection concerns.
