Jamie Siminoff, founder of home security firm Ring, which was acquired by Amazon for $1bn in 2018, has returned to the ecommerce giant as a vice president.
He left Amazon in 2021, soon after the company’s controversial decision to integrate its Halo fitness tracking app with the Ring platform.
At the end of 2022, Siminoff became chief executive of smart lock firm Latch, which purchased his startup Honest Industries the same year; he will take up his Amazon VP role in the second half of this year.
Siminoff will head up Amazon’s Ring, Blink, Amazon Key, and Sidewalk device teams in his new role.
His return comes as Amazon looks to innovate and boost device sales across its smart home range.
