Summary
Nintendo has confirmed that its new Switch 2 ( OLED model), will not have anti-drift Hall effect joysticks in its controllers, in direct contrast to the previous model which suffered from this problem.
The firm has also revealed that the controllers have been made larger, and more durable, with smoother movement, reflecting the feedback received from users of the original model.
However, Nintendo has yet to disclose what type of technology these new controllers will use.
Speculation centers around the potential adoption of tunnelling magnetoresistance joystick technology, offering advantages over Hall effect sensors, or whether it is simply a modification of the existing tech that suffered from the drift issue.
