ChatGPT has been given an upgrade by OpenAI, enabling it to recall conversations from the past
This is an extension of the ‘Memory’ feature added to ChatGPT last year
Conversations will be saved under two headings: ‘saved memories’ (information manually specified by the user for remembrance) and ‘reference chat history’ (past conversations analysed for insights)
The upgrade is being rolled out on a subscription basis to paying users of ChatGPT, with the exception of users in the EU and associated countries, where tighter AI regulations are in force.
Non-subscribers and those who don’t want ChatGPT to retain conversations have the option to switch off the memory function.
