OpenAI has upgraded its ChatGPT programme with the release of GPT-4.1, which it says operates faster and with a larger context window than its predecessor GPT-4.
As the company stated last week, the new model will soon replace GPT-4 as the default option in ChatGPT, and GPT-4.5 will no longer be available in the API.
According to OpenAI, the latest version is 26% cheaper than GPT-4 and has been trained to reliably attend to information across one million context lengths while being more reliable at noticing relevant text and ignoring distractors.
As previously reported, the new release date for GPT-5 is several months away, as OpenAI has struggled to smoothly integrate all the technologies involved.
